NC's Best Waterfalls--Top 16

As a resident of the northwest mountains of North Carolina since 1993, I've visited many waterfalls, especially along the Blue Ridge Parkway. I've seen kids and adults swimming and playing in these during those humid, sultry days...nothing like the invigorating cold of mountain water. What is it that draws humans to falling water? It's relaxing, both the sights and sounds, and if you're close enough, you can feel a gentle spray caress on your skin.
